Undergraduate PROCEEDINGS Submission Instructions

One benefit of presenting at NCUR® is the opportunity for students to publish their work in the Conference Proceedings, edited and produced annually by The University of North Carolina at Asheville and distributed to institutions across the nation. All student presenters at the Conference (including students in the performing/visual arts) are invited to submit manuscripts for review by the Proceedings Board. Submitting work to the Proceedings has many advantages, two of which are deemed especially important: [1] the opportunity to receive comments from faculty outside your college or university, thereby enhancing the paper for submission to other sources in your field, and [2] the opportunity to list your publication on your resume for graduate and professional school applications.

Submissions by mail: papers to be considered for the Conference Proceedings must be postmarked no later than February 27, 2006 to avoid the late fee. A $30 submission fee must accompany all paper submissions. Papers postmarked February 28, 2006, or later will require an additional $25 late fee ($30 submission fee + $25 late fee = $55 total). The deadline for mailing papers to the Proceedings Office is March 27, 2006. However, papers will be accepted at the Conference.

Submissions by hand: Students wishing to submit a paper after March 27, 2006, may do so without incurring a second late fee by personally delivering the paper to the Proceedings Desk at the conference during normal working hours on Thursday and Friday, April 6 and 7.

The final opportunity to submit a paper by hand is on Saturday, April 8. Papers submitted on Saturday, April 8, will be subject to a second late fee of $25.00 ($30 submission fee + $25 first late fee + $30 second late fee- $85). No papers will be accepted after 12:00 (noon) on Saturday, April 8, 2006.

Details regarding the Proceedings submission will be mailed to the accepted presenters in early February. Be sure that the mailing address on your NCUR Conference Application and Abstract submission form is correct for the spring 2006 semester. Primary authors will receive a copy of the Proceedings without additional charge. Please direct questions to Associate Editor Mila Lemaster at the Proceedings Office, (828) 251-6122, or mlemaster@unca.edu.
